okay, so my cousin and I are in high school together. At our school, people have been recently been wearing converse and polo shoes and skinny jeans. Me, being a senior, I did not have the money at that point in time, because of senior fees(hundreds of dollars+ ap fees and getting ready for prom in the spring…), I recently bought me a pair of skinny jeans for christmas and a couple pair of converse ya know. I though the shoes were cute and just ya know, wearin the new fad for the year.. and I also though that they match well with my uniforms and just ya know regular clothes for the weekend. Okay, so I dont wear them everyday, I have TONS of other shoes and clothes. My cousin like got a pair at the beginning of the school year and then, for Christmas also. We have completely different deisgns and what not. my style is cutesy and preppy. her style is kinda ghettoish and somewhat cute sometimes…. I dont understand… this… today, at breakfast at school, she asks me this: Im not trying to be mean(with an obvious attitude tone), but when you did you start to like converse? and i was mad becase who in the hell is she to talk to me like that: i can buy whatever the hell i want and i dont even like her style.. i have the money to buy whatever i please and i buy like whats cute and in the moment! why would she try to ask me this? is she threatned because everybody has been complementing my converse shoes? is she jealous? because i ALWAYS dress nice!!!!! i luv her with all my might: my cuz is my sister at the heart? how come she thinks im tryin to take her style when i dont even like her style anyway: i am like totallly different: im preppy and fun and spunky and in the moment when she is like soooo NOT! i dont understand!! why is she being like this? does she feel i will overshadow her?? WHat are the three main points of this summary:

In the power struggle that began following the collapse of the Tetrarchy around 309, Constantine consolidated his position in Britain, Gaul, the Germanic provinces, and Spain. Believing himself to be the rightful emperor of the Western Roman Empire, he assembled his army and prepared for an invasion of Italy in 312. To the south, Maxentius, who occupied Rome, sought to advance his own claim to the title. To support his efforts, he was able to draw upon the resources of Italy, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, and the African provinces.

Advancing south, Constantine conquered northern Italy after crushing Maxentian armies at Turin and Verona. Showing compassion to the citizens of the region, they soon began to support his cause and his army swelled to near 100,000 (90,000+ infantry, 8,000 cavalry). As he neared Rome, it was expected that Maxentius would stay within the city walls and force him to lay siege. This strategy had worked in the past for Maxentius when he faced invasion from the forces of Severus (307) and Galerius (308). In fact, siege preparations had already been made, with large amounts of food already brought into the city.

Instead, Maxentius opted to give battle and advanced his army to the Tiber River near the Milvian Bridge outside of Rome. This decision is largely believed to have been based on favorable omens and the fact that the battle would occur on the anniversary of his ascension to the throne. On October 27, the night before the battle, Constantine claimed to have had a vision which instructed him fight under the protection of the Christian God. In this vision a cross appeared in the sky and he heard in Latin, "in this sign, you will conquer."

The author Lactantius states that following the vision’s instructions, Constantine ordered his men to paint the Christians’ symbol (either a Latin cross or the Labarum) upon their shields. Advancing over the Milvian Bridge, Maxentius ordered it destroyed so that it could not be used by the enemy. He then ordered a pontoon bridge constructed for his own army’s use. On October 28, Constantine’s forces arrived on the battlefield. Attacking, his troops slowly pushed back Maxentius’ men until their backs were at the river.

Seeing that the day was lost, Maxentius decided to retreat and renew the battle closer to Rome. As his army withdrew, it clogged the pontoon bridge, its only avenue of retreat, ultimately causing it to collapse. Those trapped on the north bank were either captured or slaughtered by Constantine’s men. With Maxentius’ army split and decimated, the battle came to a close. Maxentius’ body was found in the river, where he had drowned in an attempt to swim across.

Capitalism vs Socialism vs Communism? A thought experiment.?
Hey everyone. With all the political discussion of "socialism" and the like lately, its gotten me thinking about how the various economic systems stack up so to speak. I did some thinking and I feel like if each were used in their purest form, eventually you would end up with essentially the same thing regardless of which system you use. So here’s the question:

Imagine three different societies. One is pure communist, one is pure socialist, and one is pure capitalist(i.e. unregulated free market). Now allow those societies to progress and assume they continue to practice their chosen economic model and there are no unusual factors forcing them to give up that model. I.e. there’s no revolutions or anything of that nature. And also ignore whether the models are practical in their pure form. What do you think each society would end up looking like and why? Especially highlight any differences you might see in each society.

My answer: In a purely communist economy the government controls all the economic activity in the country and decides how much each person is compensated for their labors. There is essentially a single entity in charge of all production and distribution of goods and services. Also there is no personal property as it is all communally owned.

In a pure socialist economy: the people(i.e. government) are in control of all means of production and distribution of resources and goods. Again, since we are talking about the "pure" form of it, there are essentially no private companies because all goods and services are socialized(i.e. provided by government entities). Essentially we have a single entity in charge of all economic activity in the country. However, there are no problems with personal property. Just because a company owned by the government made the house you live in, doesn’t mean you dont own it yourself.

In a pure Capitalist(unregulated free market) economy: I’m assuming we start out with a highly competitve private economy with no public sector(i.e. no government). Order is of course maintained by private police companies and private military companies to ensure that the model can carry out. As we move forward in the thought experiment, more and more companies merge to gain a competitive advantage over their smaller peers. I think as long as there’s no regulation, we end up with a single company eventually being able to buy out all the competition and branch out into every good and service. In essence we again have a single entity in charge of all economic activity in the society.

So as far as I can tell, you end up with the same thing no matter what you do if you go with a single pure economic model, that is, a single entity in charge of all economic activity. I know its a tough long question, but what are everyone’s thoughts?

My conclusion about Capitalism was what surprised me the most as I had never thought about the eventual outcome of long term unregulated capitalism. What do you feel makes the Capitalism outcome more utopian than the Socialism outcome?

I would think that the capitalism outcome has the potential to concentrate power and wealth into a smaller amount of individuals who control the resulting super "corporation" that handles everything.

URGENT!Switching schools tomorrowww..?
Im crying right now. Im nervous, and im confused.
So, i’ve been going the same schools in the same county my whole life. Same elementary school until 5th grade, same middle school all 3 years. And now im a freshman in high school. My mom and dad are divorced, and i’ve been living with my dad. And he takes me to school in another county every day and picking me up. Because I know everybody there, and all of my friends go there. I love it there. But now somebody found out about it, and we will get into trouble for living in a differnt county. But I REALLY am nervous about switching. My two step sisters and my step brother go there, to the one I would be switching to. And they love it. But he is a football player, the oldest is a cheerleader. And the youngest, who is in middle school, is just skinny and popular and like, everybody loves her. Im not skinny, but not fat. And im really self consious. Im just really really nervous. So, I have two choices. Stay with my dad and go to GC, or move back in with my aunt, and stay in JC. What would you do?? And if I switch, how can I adjust better??

Please read my 'Fairytale' and review/criticize it? I REALLY need it!?
I made this a while ago to start a rp off with, and it WAS based on a picture on dA, but they deleted it! DX

It’s somewhat short, and at places, please ignore the uncapitalized parts, this was typed on a website that is not like word. Unfortunately…. …. But, anyways! Please criticize all you want! I don’t want lovey-dovey comments, I need hard, serious, comments.

Once upon a time, there was a very lonely princess. She loved her kingdom, everything that lived, and of course, stories. Now, you could probably guess that the princesses’ favorite stories were fairy tales, but that was only because, the princess herself wanted her own fairy tale. Selfishness did not invade her mind, because, that’s the only thing she ever had asked for. The princess didn’t ask for food, water, shelter, toys, stories, clothes, bathes… all of those things were simply given without her permission. In truth, she didn’t care about any of those things, in truth, she only wanted love. The one thing the king nor the servants could ever give her. Because, love can’t be bought, life can’t be bought, and fairy tales can’t come true… because, this princess wasn’t allowed to have a happy ending.

Unfortunately for the king, his wife died while giving birth to the princess. Unfortunately for the princess, she was born with a weak heart, and was bound to die before she turned 18. Which, was only a year away.

One day, she started her own fairy tale. The princess worked day and night on it, putting her whole heart into it, and disobeying her daily needs. Nothing stopped her, not even the fact that she was getting sicker every single day. After many weeks of work, the story was finished and illustrated. That night, the princess put the story underneath her pillow, and slept for the first time in such a long time. And, as she cried herself to sleep that night, the princess remembered what the doctor had said.

"I’m afraid that she won’t be surviving even for one more month, it’s even possible that the princess will die tonight."

And that night, as those tears seeped through her pillow soaking the ink on the paper of her fairy tale, she knew that tonight would be her last dream. She knew that tonight, would be her last time to see the fairy tale she had worked so hard on, the fairy tale that the princess wanted so badly to come true. Except, her dream never did come to her that night.

Instead, the princess dreamed that she was standing in the rain. There were three full moons in the sky, white, violet, and a pure blood-red. they were visible, even though there were clouds filling the sky. She reached out a hand, allowing the cold raindrops to crash down onto her pale and thin wrists. It hurt her so much, that it felt like fire was burning at her skin even though it was ice cold, but that was only because she had absolutely no muscle or fat on her anywhere. It seemed like forever to the princess, as she stood there quietly. For some reason, the rain didn’t stop. It just kept on going, kept on falling, harder and harder each time. Until, she could swear seeing fish fly through the air, literally.

Flowers the colors of the night sky and the sunny sky grew around her in fields of rainbows, as if they were her loving children. They grew higher and higher, and swayed in the rain as though it was wind instead of water. Everything was so amazingly peaceful… she just couldn’t help but close her eyes. It all felt too real to the princess… and… she began to think. ‘Is this what heaven feels like?’ The thoughts warmed her heart up, even if by the slightest. They held her heart, as though there was no tomorrow, as though there was only one more moment left… before everything disappeared. As the princess opened up her eyes, she watched and felt a warm, smooth hand caress her cheek.

His eyes were closed, but at that moment, she knew who he was. She knew, that her wish had come true. The Untold Fairy Tale… the princesses story… was coming to life.

I loved it!
The beginning is the only thing I would change. Beginnings are always hard to write but now that you have a better feel for the story and aren’t just starting on it you should be able to get more creative with it. you could even make it longer,if you wanted. And make it where she is trapped in her dream and needs to find her prince or something. If you write anything more to this,please email me with it. I would love to read it and if you need a beta reader just email me. I would be happy to help….Do you do fan fict? If so what fandom?

LOVED it untill… ‘Except, her dream never did come to her that night’, though the ending is okay. Averthing after tht quote is too messy and needs to be reworked.

I think it was pretty good and im not just saying that. I think maybe you should add a little more detail it is very short it would prolly be better if you made it longer, but it is still pretty good as it is.
