A Free Decent Video converter?
Is there a free video converter that doesn’t leave watermarks or random noises? I mean I’m content with mine and all, But recently my computer crashed so I now have unregistered everything… And I don’t wanna pay again… Soo, anyone know a free, decent, and watermarkless Video Converter capable of converting WVA (Windows Media Video) MP4, and such? If so that would be extremely helpful.

best one i found was Leawo nice program i used to convert the unpaid version doesn’t let you convert to the highest quality setting but i found the medium quality to be better than most of the other programs i tried that were all on high setting.

What are some good Sci-Fi books?
I’m in high school, but I don’t really like books aimed at children or teens. Some of my favorits books are 2001 and sequels by Arthur C Clark, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy- Douglas Adams, and Contact- Carl Sagan. I’ve also read a few Star Wars books. Some of my favorite movies are Star Wars (original trilogy), GATTACA, and pretty much anything else about space or aliens. I tried to read Wells, but I didn’t really enjoy him much.

Some classic sci-fis include:

Robert Heinlein–Stranger in a Strange Land (generally regarded as the best sci-fi novel ever written)
Robert Heinlein–Starship Troopers
Ursula K. LeGuin–The Left Hand of Darkness
Ray Bradbury–short stories (various collections)
Frank Herbert–Dune
Isaac Asimov–Foundation Trilogy

There are many others, but I would start with this ‘desert island’ list. Enjoy!

The Malazan Book of the Fallen is an epic fantasy series written by Canadian author Steven Erikson, published in ten volumes beginning with the novel Gardens of the Moon. As of August 2009, nine novels in the series have been published leaving only the final volume forthcoming. Erikson’s series is complex with a wide scope, and presents the narratives of a large cast of characters.[1][2][2][3][4][5] Erikson’s plotting presents a complicated series of events in the world upon which the Malazan Empire is located. Each volume is relatively self-contained for the first five novels, in that the primary conflict of each novel is resolved within that novel. However, many underlying characters and events are interwoven throughout the works of the series, binding it together.

The Malazan world was co-created by Steven Erikson and Ian Cameron Esslemont in the early 1980s as a backdrop to their GURPS roleplaying campaign.[6] In 2005 Esslemont began publishing his own series of five novels set in the same world, beginning with Night of Knives. Although Esslemont’s books are published under a different series title – Novels of the Malazan Empire – Esslemont and Erikson collaborated on the storyline for the entire fifteen-book project and Esslemont’s novels are considered as canonical and integral to the series as Erikson’s own.

The Malazan series is often compared both to Glen Cook’s Black Company, (to whom the seventh book is dedicated) and George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. By 2006, the series had sold 250,000 copies.[7]

One of my favorite books of all time is Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. I don’t even like space and alien books that much but I loved that book.

I recommend Robert A. Heinlein, Robert Asprin, Eric Flint, and John Ringo. I’ve also heard that David Drake, David Weber, Travis S. Taylor, and Linda Evans are good, but I haven’t tried any of their solo books yet.

For the old guys, read Isaac Asimov (the Foundation Trilogy, his Robot books, THE GODS THEMSELVES, etc), Ray Bradbury (THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES, THE ILLUSTRATED MAN), others by Arthur C. Clarke (CHILDHOOD’S END!), Theodore Sturgeon (MORE THAN HUMAN). Poul Anderson, Frederik Pohl!

For the newer folks: Joe Haldeman (FOREVER WAR, etc), Jack McDevitt, Nancy Kress (BEGGARS I SPAIN), Joan Vinge, Vernor Vinge, etc.

Take a look at the SFWA Nebula Award winnners (and nominees), the Huga Awards, and the World Fantasy Awards.
