 The Damned United (2009)
IMDB rating: 8.00
Plot: Taking over England’s top football club Leeds United, previously successful manager Brian Clough’s abrasive approach and his clear dislike of the players’ dirty style of play make it certain there is going to be friction. Glimpses of his earlier career help explain both his hostility to previous manager Don Revie and how much he is missing right-hand man Peter Taylor who has loyally stayed with Brighton & Hove Albion.

What is so good about Singapore?
Seriously, what is so damn good about that place?
I live in the United States.
Southern California to be exact.
Home of world famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, pristine beaches. I also live within a close dive from Los Angeles, entertainment capital of the WORLD.
All within my reach.
So everything that is in Singapore, I can do here.
I don’t get the hype.
I’m just sick of Singapore this, Singapore that.
To me it’s just a little, overpopulated island, that is hot and smelly and crowded and everyone has the attitude that they think they’re the best.
1. I too am familiar everywhere I go. I think most people are in their hometown.
2. US has way more countryside.
3. Despite the recession US is affluent too. We have to work harder.
5. Your ZOO. Our ZOOS
6. The US is more culturally diverse.
7. We have better attractions in US. Better entetainment, film, music.
8. We have National Parks
9. Better military in US
10. Money is worth more in US
11. And I believe living in a society where there is an aspect of danger makes you a stronger person
12. Don’t waste your time with SG. Go to US or AUS
Okay, you people on Answers apparently are mature.
I’ve encountered Singaporeans on YouTube and we’ve gotten into some big arguments.
These people are rude, arrogant and their ego.
None of you fall under that category and I apologize.
Maybe if you could tell your fellow Singaporeans to settledown.
Some take too much pride and are blind to the rest of the world and think they’re everything.
There is nothing good about Singapore accordingly to you. Similarly, to me, there is nothing great about US. So, we should continues to stay at our respective countries. There is no issue to argue about.

OKAY well obviously you havent experienced Singapore if you dont understand why people love it
i suppose it depends who is telling you all this wether it is an expat or a tourist or a singaporean the opinions and reasons for those opinions really do change
i am 15 and have lived in Singapore for 6 years with my family for my fathers job – i just moved back to Australia ( and i am friggin devastated i have left everything to move back *home*)
from the expats view the reason i love singapore and the fact that i am a girl
- its one of the safest countries in the world (i think you may say the safest country) which makes travel and life so carefree and easy
I as a 15 yr old girl could walk around the city at 2am in the morning and feel nothing but safe
i had no worries about the people around me all you ever feel is safe
- the lifestyle of an expat is amazing – your parents are often being flown around the world to do confrences etc. ( which does kinda suck cuz you miss you parent/s) so they sometimes bring you along
the location of the country is fantastic you can fly so many places so much cheaper than say from london or australia
the multi culturism is soo … there are no words to go around the small country and see so much culture interspersed with nothing but harmony is … as i said there are no words everyone is accepted no matter what it doesnt matter where you come from or what you look like because in Singapore you are really just a person – your race doesnt matter because everyone is accpted – at my school there were 42 different nationalities and not once did i hear a negactive racial remark
quite often expats get great packages and salaries because of the fact they left there country to live in another to work
so this allows so much financial freedom for eveyone in the family
the attractions and people when you really look are also great not to say that Singapore doesnt have snobby or as you said haughty people it does but you have just go to find the right people
be happy and vivacious be loud and joyous and they will LOVE you not matter what they will think your the coolest thing that ever lived because your so much fun
i love singapore because its not like living in a country its like living in the world the country doesnt bind you
you can travel around the country and experience the world but the world is also in palm of your hand and singapore can take you anywhere
this is all my experience of singapore – im even crying thinking about how wonderful this country is
not to say there isnt anything bad but what country doesnt have its down side but for me its alot harder to find Singapore’s downside
I LOVE SINGAPORE and always will because living there gave me so much i went above and beyond and i became a citizen of the world not just of a country
maybe you need to live in singapore to understand what i am saying but .. i will say with out a doubt that Singapore is truly wonderful!!
good luck
hope i helped

1. I like it cos’ in Singapore everyone seems to know everyone.
2. Everywhere I go, I am familiar. I know every street, every corner and there are little surprises every day to discover.
3. We are one of the most affluent nations in the world.
4. I am proud of our Singapore rojak.
5. We are small, but we have certainly had a lot of achievements.
6. I love Singapore’s old changi hospital, changi village where all the ahguas hang out, the east coast beaches (can’t be compared to other beaches in the world but it’s where I feel so homely), lim chu kang where we have our little farms and a bit of countryside, our coffeeshops and many more!
7. I love the NS experience, though tough.
8. Our zoo is world-renowned too.
9. Singapore is one of the rare places where you can see a temple beside a church and a church beside a mosque.
10. Singlish
11. Geylang and its food
and many many more..
But of course I had a lot of friends who left Singapore because of many reasons. But well, every country appeals different to everyone.

Do you see many Singaporeans going onto yahoo to complain about the shootings that occur every so often in the US? Or about the failed banking system you had?
US is your home, Singapore is ours. The choice to stay in the US is your choice. why is there any need to complain about singapore here?
et tu? | Jan 26, 2010
There are more good than bad people in SG. can’t say the same for the US.
It is nice to hear the expat’s view of Singapore…*Quote from hellpfull : you can travel around the country and experience the world*…Really?.. this is what local Singaporeans do not realise enough.

why do you ask, do you live here at the moment and dislike it or something? If not, then where are you hearing "Singapore this, Singapore that"?
People like Singapore because it is a relatively safe place to live, crime is fairly low and you don’t feel nervous about walking the streets at night. It’s also summer all year around and people like that. the atmosphere is quite laid back and some things are pretty cheap here – you can go bowling for $3 per game, the cinema is cheap, the hawker centres are cheap.
Lots of people in Singapore would not be able to afford to fly to the US so I’m not sure why you’re telling us to go there – are you offering to pay or something?

I think you should stay in US and not come to Singapore. I don’t welcome you since you dislike us so much.

Your problem.

I LOVE it here in Singapore. The prime minister of Singapore is doing everything to balance the harmony of different races and religion. They are keeping a close watch at whats happening in the world and will make sure it wouldn’t happen in Singapore.
For example: Riots between races / religions
Its VERY safe here too. The government planted trees (especially umbrella trees) along the road, to give us shade from the sun.
Apparently, I don’t want to go to US or AUS and I don’t even know anything about both countries as well. Most people there look down on us because we’re asian and because of skin colour. And also those who went there have the purpose to widen their knowledge. Not to waste your money or time at a place where you are not familiar with.
Singapore is a multi-racial country and I hope it will forever last that way. I suppose thats why Singapore is special. We live in harmony with other races either from Singapore or another countries.
At point 11, you stated that living in a society where there is an aspect of danger makes you a stronger person. It would be easy for you to say that. As a girl, our nightmare would be getting raped. You’re a guy, you wouldn’t understand that and besides, who wants to see a group of drunk men walking in the streets and knocking at your door for no reason.
Its obvious you know NOTHING about Singapore and I know NOTHING about both of them too. Be happy with your country as we do with ours.
Oh, and the one which you said that you’ve encountered Singaporeans on YouTube and you’ve gotten into some big arguments. They’re people are rude, arrogant and their ego. Well, what did write at first then that make them unhappy? Its most certain you wrote something bad about Singapore which makes them angry. Hmm…..maybe you really do not understand us at all…
Anyway, I respect your country by not saying rude comments about it, you should do the same.

Singapore is really nice place. Why? because even it is only a small country they do have a lot of tourist spots that you can visit. They are affluent and people are disciplined. I don’t think their place is crowded, I find their place really nice and safe to stay with.
