credit score situation…..i owe 2700…since last year for old cellphone contract..long story..on disability.?
im on disability assistance and i dont think i can pay the 2700 cellphone contract (long story) …i know my credit score will or is already damaged..im 23..i feel so depressed now over this.

…i dont know what to do…and i dont really know much about credit scores and collection agencies.

… the agency that called me said i have until the end of this month to pay 100$ ( they want me to pay $100/month..when i only make $606/month!) or they will report me to the credit bureau

………. :( ………. im planning to go to college in September (want to try getting disability money to pay for school) im trying to save and to move out this summer closer to the school……………….I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO …im running short on hope..

…i know i could pay them part of it but i cant even pay them 1000..the most…the MOST i could pay is 500 from my savings :( ….what would you do?

Negotiate with the collection agency.

Tell them you wish to settle, but that your monthly income is only $606 per month and let’s face it, and old cell phone bill is really far down on the priority list. Tell them you’d be happy to negotiate something reasonable to you, or they get nothing.

If they go for it, get whatever the deal is in writing before you send a single cent. No good faith payments first. Do not let them draft your bank account.

If your credit gets dinged, it gets dinged. Not much you can do about it. Do what you can and don’t worry about what you can’t do.
Uncle Pennybags | Jan 18, 2010

I do not understand why they are even giving you the option to avoid having it reported to the credit bureau; they should have reported it already, and they should report it no matter how much you pay.

I also do not know how you managed to run up a $2700 phone bill.

In any case, the best thing would be the pay the $100 per month that they have taken the unusual step of agreeing to accept. Normally, in this situation, you would have to pay much more than that.

Need some good books for a teen?
So, i’m extremely bored and i don’t have anything to read for school on Monday. I’ve been bringing HArry Potter to read over and over, like i normally do, so i need new books. I’ve read the entire Percy Jackson series last week and i’ve read the Ranger’s Apprentice series, Eragon series, Mortal Instruments series, Dragonlance Chronicles, and Inkheart series all since August 2009. I’m planning on reading Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Gallaxy and Hunger Games once i getthem from the library. DO NOT say anything related to Twilight, that includes anything written by Stephanie Meyer and anything vampires. I just need some books to read for a teen. i love fantasy and rarely read anything that isn’t. So, thanks for the help and DO NOT suggest twilight. i don’t like sparkling vampires.
Um, yeah, i prefer fantasy and i highly doubt i’m going to read any book that isn’t fantasy. Just thought you might want to know.

I hate vampires too. What’s the deal?

Anyways, my sister told me to read one of her favourite books a few months ago. She first read it when she was a teenager, but she liked it so much that she read it about 3 different times I think! She lent it to me a while ago and I loved it. I could really relate to it. It’s called All American Girl by Meg Cabot.

Where did the laws concerning the singularity at the beginning come from?
How does a singularity exist, or, for that matter, come to exist, without any laws for it to be described (information-wise)?

Is it laws all the way down? Or is it multiple universes all the way down? At what point do you find the solution to the second law of thermodynamics? This is a law that requires some consideration, does it not?

At some point, there is required something that contains multiple possibilities which also is not subject to the process of cause and effect. This would require something that is infinite, and if there are laws evident in nature, because this cause is timeless, it would also be required that it contain all possibilities (which in this entity, would be infinite). Such an entity would be necessarily self-aware (as all potential for self-awareness is observed within that which it has caused) and possessing even forms of intelligence with which we are simply incapable of comprehending, even infinite in nature.

Keep in mind, time is not applicable, so even at the source of the Universe, intelligence would also exist (then, today, and in the future).

For those of you who refuse to believe in a personal creator for our Universe (which we only perceive through a scanner darkly anyway), how do you reconcile the issue of laws with your reasoning?

The instant anything existed laws applied. Even God (always self-aware) lives in accordance with the eternal laws of perfection & life comes from life. Many’ll do anything 2 keep God out of it: Fact must b separated from speculation: Only God possesses the required super intelligence 2 design/engineer/create the universe/life (but religion doesnt = truth – u must know the real Jesus). Only 1 God can occupy infinity & that God is the God of Israel (no other gods exist) – only place u can rightly claim u dont need a cause 4 ur existence & declare the end from the beginning (so God knows everything including man’s false ideas). Its only fully provable b/c Jesus is the true Son of God & He wasnt speaking out of 2 let alone 1000s of the sides of His mouth (no confusion).

1. The crux of the problem is many (having limited knowledge) try 2 know what God did by imposing human limitations 4 understanding things 2 God’s abilities. The BB/BBnc/Ev/Abiog. r unprovable theories 4 a billions of yrs old cold case – cant b proved by scientific method – we didnt see it take place = speculation – many confuse a true fact & speculation especially if added upon a fact(s)).

2. Many scientific finds r true – doesnt mean "all" claims r true (many dont take time & energy 2 carefully think thru things b4 making a claim). Many dont properly take in2 account all it takes 2 create a universe/life (they tend 2 focus on things "seeming" 2 support what they want 2/u 2 believe). The most distant stars seen r 13.7 billion light yrs away – means 3 things: 1. U see it as it was 13.7 billion yrs ago; 2. If it blew up 2day u wont know it 4 13.7 billion yrs; 3. So its an illusion since u cant know what happened 2 that star since 13.7 billion yrs ago. @ 1 million mph (u get 2 a point like overdriving ur car lights & a pea size rock can end ur trip – u cant see/avoid them in time) it would take 200 billion yrs 2 reach the center of our galaxy (33,000+ Light yrs away) – a walk about 1 block compared 2 the size of the universe.

3. So theres NO WAY 2 prove the BB is the cause of the universe. Whether the universe is expanding or not we cant prove the driving force of the propulsion is due 2 force(s) from outside of the universe/the BB/other forces or if acceleration is due 2 the universe collapsing/being sucked outward (we cant get outside of it – quantum mech particle out of nothing claims cant b proved w/o erasing the universe/us 2 do a "clean" experiment) – so the red shift/Doppler effect/dark matter calc cant b tested.

4. The "1rst" cause of everything (no matter what scientists claim) must b an uncaused cause. 4 singularity 2 pop in2 existence @ 1 small point with the colossal energy needed 2 produce a universe is 1 tall order (It would take @ least a [near] infinite force [like gravity] 2 gather & keep enough energy 2 go from 0 2 billions of degrees kelvin within it if its even possible). Even the so-called perpetual regression type theories double-talk (like the 1800s perpetual motion scams) ignore the fact that there had 2 b a 1rst cause no matter how many universes/dimensions 1 proposes existed prior 2 our universe. The process (work) 4 creating singularity/a universe uses energy & unusable energy like gamma/x-ray radiation escapes "usage" thus perpetual universe regression isnt possible (instant universe began all laws applied).

5. Ignoring #4, even if a singularity "blob" was present prior 2 the BB we’d hv problems. Singularity can only hv 1 property (whatever "it" is) or it isnt in the state of singularity. This supposed blob could only b created thru full annihilation of all atomic structures of any matter/fabric of space entering it. Since this blob only has 1 property it can’t react 2 itself, heat, pressure or other particles in the vicinity (no matter how unstable their atomic properties r b/c of the presence of the super immense gravitational field/annihilation in2 a single property blob).

6. The blob cant reach a "critical mass" threshold b/c of the state of its existence (& inertia problem). B/c the force of gravity would b billions of trillions of magnitudes greater than @ the center of a Super Nova, it couldnt act/react like a Super Nova (atoms still exist there).

7. 4 the singularity blob 2 expand there must b some kind of "super" detonator present 2 cause an expansion (explosion against gravity) reaction. The immensity of the gravitational force necessary 2 cause singularity 2 form/retain that state (2 gather & contain enough singularity "stuff" 2 make our universe), would cause another problem. That is, It would also prevent anything having the capability 2 serve as a detonator from lasting long enough 2 get near the blob 2 cause a reaction (let alone the tremendous forces necessary 4 the kind of colossal reaction needed 2 commence a universe).

8. Even if some type of detonator could get near the blob w/o being torn apart/annihilated 1rst, 2 split/scatter/expand the singularity blob would require it 2 penetrate 2 the center of the blob b4 causing a reaction even within the detonator/explosive (most likely impossible b/c of the gravitational force). Even if such an immense explosion took place in the vicinity of the blob it would do little more than slightly move or vibrate the blob, which would more than likely remain fully intact (@ most it might rip off a very minute surface area which would immediately b pulled back 2 the blob along with all explosion particles). Even if something could last long enough 2 cause an explosion anywhere near the blob, the reaction would b akin 2 lighting a match as u put it in water.

9. The necessary gravitation field has 2 b so great that light cant escape. It means that even if the blob somehow expanded I doubt very much it could get beyond the threshold/event horizon where it could reach the necessary escape velocity/distance needed 2 outlast the force of gravity/vortex effect & remain @ that expansion level long enough 2 allow formation of atoms. B/c the center of gravity would still b @ the blob center point not @ the outside "surface" the vector angle of force would b greatest towards the original center. This vector force would cause any attempt 2 form atoms 2 be interrupted b/c it would exert such a tremendous force in 1 direction that it would pull atoms apart, back 2wards the center of gravity.

10. Skipping par 4-9 – even if the proposed cooling process reached a point where quarks & anti-quarks could supposedly form there would hv 2 b zillions forming in some uniform distribution pattern @ near the same instant over a huge area. @ the sub-atomic level the same conditions would hv 2 exist thru out the entire area @ nearly the same instant or the atomic formation process would most likely fail. If only a few 2 a few million atoms formed they would most likely disintegrate/return 2 the blob in a short time period.

11. Contrary 2 popular belief atoms hv 2 b "forged" 2gether which can only take place by the 4 basic forces acting from "outside" its atomic structure while controlling & overcoming the forces that must b present & properly coordinated 2 keep the atomic structure intact (strong force vs weak force, etc.) while in the presence of the tremendous vector force toward the center of gravity acting against this formation process. 4 enough atoms 2 hv a chance of surviving, it would require formation of zillions of atoms 2 go thru the same process @ nearly the same instant (4 1 thing – 2 hv a chance of producing anywhere near enough of an opposing force like gravity [but any new center of gravity, while gathering atoms would also increase its attraction back in2 the immense force from the original center of gravity] 2 cancel out @ least most of the vector force of the original center of gravity – impossible).

The chances r so great against even 1 atom forming without an incredibly Intelligent Being, possessing a much greater area than the universe & having possession & control over many more times the energy needed 2 create a universe, creating it – u’d hv a better chance of having a million monkeys creating the US Constitution by randomly pressing keys on a million typewriters, which we know would b impossible (even if they did they wouldnt know what it was or what 2 do with it). The laws of probability apply 2 each universe event, events dependent on other events only compounds/multiplies the odds against it taking place w/o God causing it.

When confronted with a question which I genuinely cannot explain, I do the only intellectually honest thing. I admit I don’t know, and don’t make any further assumptions until more evidence comes in. An honest admission of ignorance is perfectly acceptable, especially concerning extraordinary events.
Mr | Feb 05, 2010

You know what, I’m an atheist and I’ll be honest this is the one thing I struggle with. If there was no intelligent design at least at the beginning, there would be no need for laws, structure, order. I can simply say I do not know the answer to that.
greenjellybean | Feb 05, 2010

I can’t tell you exactly, but the infinite properties of a singularity are theoretical, they come from calculations and they find that when you have something that collapses the size of a supergiant star, the physical variables end up causing an infinite number.

Edit: The star was just an example, but anything that brings about infinite values to variables such as density are by definition singularities.
Guardian Angel Mitchell | Feb 05, 2010

In the absolute we find only particles and vibration.
Intelligence, thoughts and all emotions are vibrations.
Spirit and matter that’s it.
It is like we every where in our surrounding.
The transformation of solids into gases.
The spirit becomes manifest and returns to spirit.
The infinity is the key word to elaborate the theory existence.
Existence always was and will always be.
There is for example the fact that the universe is and above is the consciousness the it is there.
This state of mind of being able to acknowledge that is the real reality.

I like the Philip K. Dick reference! ;-D

I’ve been doing some thinking on this subject lately myself & exploring the confusing world of quantum physics ….. and I still don’t have an answer for you.

I’ve often wondered though if the fleeting images we occasionally see out of the corner of our eyes aren’t really ghosts per se, but perhaps ourselves – carrying out a different "possibility" in the multiverse. Free Will gives us the opportunity to explore those choices. It’s a pretty great gift, you have to admit…..

A shot at romance-Girls do you think I am datable? Spare this a read & let me know? Been tagged geek but am I?
I long for a GIRL—

Who is Priceless rather than being Worthless.

Who is Upclose though is still a Stranger.

In whose presence, shall Serenity & Eternity self-conceive.

Who comprises of Multifarious traits, however, retains her Singleton Identity.

Whom on meeting, my Sorrows & Pains respire their ultimate.

Who abhors addiction but herself is a toxic ocean that I would love to immerse myself in & breathe my last.

Whose aura provides me with a Solace as does the Winter Sun in Atlantic.

Who is more aristocratic than the moon in a lucid sky is.

Who elucidates my trajectory by effacing the Gloom with her Imperative Glare.

Who is Imperial though Modest.

Whose heart & soul are more naked than is her body.

Who is unconditional not parametric.

Who is fastened rather than being subdued to me.

Whose gait could bolster my crumbling stance on the aisle of life.

Eventually, who could be my groove rather being my gorge when the next big & the ultimate thing is a Pyre to rest on.

So I believe,

I wouldn’t date & then follow up with a marriage
rather
I would like to have a marriage that is followed by a perpetual date!

Is it far from being romantic & expression is what a girl needs the most-right. I fear making a move towards them. All the stuff written above is a clear statement of how do I feel & still I am single.
I just fear to give my feeling a voice so do you think I can be a good lover; not just a fu**ker. I have no filth nor am I a Celibate but I am not hedonist either so is it a crime!

Above average looking 5′11" sturdy but a boring man – am I?
& they call me a GEEK- am I? Well I am an INDIAN-ASIA- if race matters!?!?!?

Please girls tell me if you do find this crap.

that was beautiful..you are one of a kind thats what i think! the girl that finds you will be very lucky. you seem to give your self and your soul to the person that you will fall in love with.. i once felt like that too and i found my other half it that makes any sense, i wish you luck finding this lucky girl =D you are no geek and this is no crap! you expressed the feelings i felt a few years ago before i found my bf. theres i someone out there that will for sure feel the same way towards you and their opinion should be the only that matters. i wish you the best =)

A dagger, by definition, is sharp on both edges? Why the proverb: "2-edged sword"? Why not "dagger"?
I apologize for the choppy grammar in which I phrased my question. Yahoo doesn’t give much room for proper phrasing sometimes…

I was reading and came across the well-known saying whereupon something is compared to a "double-edged sword".

Isn’t a dagger two-edged? If so, is a dagger, by definition, always two-edged? Is there any other type of knife/ sword that is always or often two edged?

Wasn’t sure how to categorize this question.

Thanks!
Obviously, of course, I realize there is a difference between a sword and a dagger (size-wise), and that a dagger is a knife and a sword.. isn’t.

But moving on, my question was, why, when not all swords are double-edged, does the proverb use swords instead of daggers (which are double edged?)?

There are two reasons for the phrase taking this form. First, as you pointed out, daggers are always double-edged, and by a similar token until recent times a small, double-edged blade would not be likely to be described as a "double-edged knife" but simply as a dagger. Using a sword, which may have either one or two cutting edges, drives home the point (no pun intended) that the situation being referred to is distinct in that it can be good and/or bad. A similar comparison between a knife and a dagger would distract from the phrase’s actual message.

The second reason is that swords are the ubiquitous human weapon. Swords are well known and have long histories all over the world, were in their many forms the weapon of choice the world over until the rise of firearms, and have associated with them a certain nostalgia and mythic quality. This has led to them being the "weapon of choice" when a weapon is called for.

For example, you might just as well say "The pen is mightier than the warhammer", but the phrase uses the sword instead as it is a more evocative and readily recognized symbol, along with being a more popular and enduring weapon.

EW | Oct 05, 2006

The phrase "double-edged sword" refers not to a blade with two edges, but to a weapon without a handle. That is, no matter which end you pick up, you’re at the dangerous end. Make more sense now?

brett.brown | Oct 05, 2006

a dagger is two edged. there are also different kinds of swords which are not necessarily double edged. a scimitar, for instance, need not have two edges. you could make reference to a double edged dagger if you wanted to, I suppose, but a sword is a more dangerous weapon that can cause more serious harm if a person is careless with it.
jamesi | Oct 05, 2006

swords are bigger than daggers, and Most swords the Romans carried were 2 edged, so you could both hack and thrust. I carried a French type that was double edged when I was a kid in a drum corps. it looked amazingly like a long dagger.
judith r | Oct 05, 2006

the sword and the dagger are not the same, even tho a dagger has a double edge the dagger is smaller…..not all swords have a double edge.
mark22059 | Oct 05, 2006

The phrase counts on the fact that some swords (rapiers, for example) are double-edged and some (sabers) are not. Some situations cut both ways and some do not.

Most daggers are double-edged. Saying the situation is "like a dagger" would not immediately bring up the double-edged aspect. People would wonder if you meant "sharp" or "small" or "deadly".
Ted Pack | Oct 05, 2006

Daggers are shorter, for close-in or suprise attacks. Swords are a main weapon, for open combat. Also, a two-edged sword is more likely to cut its wielder than a dagger, due to the way the weapons are used. Two-edged swords are primarily hacking weapons, with some use of the point, while daggers are thrusting weapons. Little chance that a thrust dagger will bounce back into the face of its wielder, but this is a very real risk with two-edged swords.
Jim P | Oct 05, 2006

a dagger is usually employed as a stabbing or thrusting weapon as compared to a sword which is bigger and can also cut, slice and dice. so when something is compared to a two-edged sword it basically means it cuts both ways-the intended target and the user.
DelVinci | Oct 05, 2006

there are many daggers with a double blade, but a good many swords from a certain period or a type also have a double edge. A good example is a broadsword. It had 2 edges. Reason for this, durring combat one edge would get very beaten up from use fighting. To prolong a knight’s fighting value, or increase a chance of killing more, he simple flipped the blade around to continue the fight with the now fresh edge. So a sword usually had one bad side, and one good side. This due to the fact that most battles in those days didn’t last overly long.

A dagger has a double blade for a totally different reason. A dagger is used on a soft target to slice and stab. when stabbing the double edge cuts both directions and does more damage easier. so, both edges are supposed to be equally sharp. Thus 2 good blades. This is why it is "a double edged sword".
dread pirate lavenderbeard | Oct 05, 2006

A dagger is a knife that is not as long as a human fore arm. A sword is a knife that is longer than a human fore arm.

IE. Wand = shorter than human fore arm.

Scepter = longer than fore arm but not as long as an arm.

Staff = longer than an arm but not longer than a human.

Pike = longer than a human.

In as much we are talkin bout proverb the double edge sword decribes the blade and dagger is it classification as a weapon. A Dagger is smaller than a sword then even it a double edged it is still a dagger.

Well, I think it is because men were in the role of power and they carried swords and although they did also carry a dagger, or dirk, the weapon was more often worn on the girdle of women of a high rank, for their own use and for their protection. A sword was a symbol of power and dominance. But, there is also the saying about a situation being so delicate it was referred to as "walking on a razor’s edge". I think it was also the title of a book which was made into a movie with Bill Murray in it.l

Well…my opinion is that the proverb of a "double-edged sword" refers not only to that of having a sword with no handle, but also one that has absolutely nothing to do with swords at all. Swords are a symbol that one usually puts with a knight, or a king. The fact is that the "double-edged sword" is more like…well, more like "don’t judge a book by its cover." Its not neccessarily literal. There may be a deeper meaning that I just can’t explain right now.

Also, don’t take things so….well….I guess look deeper than just those 16 boxes (Ever seen that? How many squares are there? (laughs) Yeah…) Don’t just look at it and say, "There’s 16 boxes there! Okay, I’m done!" and walk away. Think about it…

A dagger is smaller than a sword, so it uses a different name. Most swords are double edged, but some aren’t. I suggest setting up an account on runescape.com, and asking the question there. It is a website where it’s sort of in the medieval times. There is a lot of swords there, and most people on there have some experience.

A dagger is small and the one who gets injured is the one who is attacked. A double edged sword whether with or with out a handle is also dangerous to the wielder. In killing his enemy he might also mortally wound himself.

The Errand of Angels

The Errand of Angels
The Errand of Angels (2008)

IMDB rating: 7.60

Plot: A wide-eyed sister missionary arrives in Austria to begin her 18-month-long mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Despite having to make a few cultural adjustments, Sister Taylor meets every challenge with optimism. Her enthusiasm to share the Gospel makes her indomitable, until she finds herself with an abrasive companion whom she doesn’t understand and doesn’t particularly like. This challenge, along with the ordinary vicissitudes of missionary life begin to wear on her, and thus in the process of sharing the Gospel, Sister Taylor finds herself gaining a better understanding of its key precepts: faith, repentance, forgiveness, and charity.

Directors: Vuissa Christian

Actors: Peyitch Vlasto,Family

Do you believe that the Lord God reigneth over all?
It is clear from Scripture, then, that the angels, good and evil, are under God’s control, and willingly or unwillingly carry out God’s purpose. Yea, SATAN himself is absolutely subject to God’s control. When arraigned in Eden, he listened to the awful sentence, but answered not a word. He was unable to touch Job until God granted him leave. So, too, he had to gain our Lord’s consent before he could "sift" Peter. When Christ commanded him to depart–"Get thee hence, Satan,"–we read, "Then the Devil leaveth Him" (Matt,4:11). And, in the end, he will be cast into the Lake of Fire, which has been prepared for him and his angels.

No revolving of a world, no shining of a star, no storm, no movement of a creature, no actions of men, no errands of angels, no deeds of the Devil–nothing in all the vast universe can come to pass otherwise than God has eternally purposed.

Your thoughts

This is Absolutely true. God is omnipotent, which means that He cannot create something that He cannot have power over.

But as a Christian I also believe things like.

"All things happen for the good of those who love the Lord"
–Proverbs

All things does not mean everything except diseases, or mosquitoes, or Garrido monsters. It means all things.

A non christian may consider that a bit off, but Christians also know that God, has promised to "make all things new".

Essentially all this means in the Christian worldview, that nothing in this life can actually be lost. Technically, everything I have, including my life, belongs to God anyway since he created it all. And yes He will take it all away.

But He will remain, and His promise will remain, for those who are faithful. God is not limited to my short lifetime, to put all things right. He has all of eternity to make right that which has gone wrong.

For those who mock Him, and shake their fist at Him, and demand justice…..

I fear it is justice that He will give them.

Hope that helps.

Sorry. This is utter nonsense.

I’m starting to because the History Channel had the End of The Earth on all day today. They said the end is near and all the sinners have to repent

My thoughts, Raphael?
Sounds logical to me. But, then I’m not an atheist,
and apparently you’re not one, either.
Make no mistake about it, though: no less than ten
billion people, all over the world, would emphatically
disagree!

No, I do not believe that.

I believe that all religions were invented by humans. All gods are myths.

In ancient times people were very afraid of storms and earthquakes and volcanoes and many things. They thought the gods or the spirits of the ancestors might help them, if they worshiped and sacrificed.

Then a few people made religion so that certain individuals could gain wealth and power. And it’s been building ever since.

Finally in the 21st century, in the West, people can say they’re Atheist, Humanist or Agnostic. This is wonderful. Freedom is wonderful. Kindness, love and compassion come from the human mind. Live your life now, with love and compassion.

Yep, that’s it.

True Love allows freedom of choice, whether right or wrong. Therefore complete control is not complete Love.
God is Love to the perfect fullness.
Angels were allowed a choice, adam and eve were allowed a choice.
God Almighty reigns, similar to parents who reign in the family, though the children have been given instructions out of love, they have a choice, obey or rebel. Does this mean when they rebel, that their parents were in control of their wrong behaviors, not if these parents were teaching them true and loving behaviors.
Though God created the angels and mankind, He did not create sin or rebellion, He is still Lord God Almighty, and as the free choices may lead us away from Gods teachings, His Way(meaning His Word of Truth-The Holy Bible), will reach beyond this sinning world to a world without sin, to me, Our Lord God does reign.
It isn’t the individual wins and loses that make the real winner, it is the total at the end!

Amusment parks near Fort Lauderdale, Florida?
My family, which ranges in ages from 23-11, will be spending a couple days in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before we leave on a cruise. Are there any amusement type parks in or near Fort Lauderdale?

Thank you!

There aren’t any unless you went to Boomer’s off of 95 they got a roller coaster that is wooden. But everything else would be up in Orlando. There is however Parrot Jungle Island which is kinda far from Ft.Lauderdale. Hope this helps

Here is a complete list of parks containing at least one roller coaster near Fort Lauderdale, sorted by distance.
http://www.rcdb.com/r.htm?nm=na&st=9 3&al=3579&ot=3

Boomers looks like your standard family fun center (mini golf/go karts/etc) but it also has a wooden coaster – a 100 foot tall one, biggest in Florida. It looks like a pretty good one, too. Its just 8 miles from Fort Lauderdale.
http://www.boomersparks.com/park/dania/

The other close parks look like they are kiddie parks or are closed/out of business. Then there are the Orlando parks (Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World) that are located about 180 miles away (3 hours). Busch Gardens is in Tampa. It is a great park with excellent coasters and other rides as well as many exotic animals. It is also about 180 miles away (3 hours). If you are willing to get up really early and leave at around 7 AM, you could get to this park by opening time and head back to Fort Lauderdale right after closing. It would make for a long day, but would be totally worth it, in my opinion.
