A poem of society's corruption?
The regrets lie on the floor,
Staring at my blank, emotionless face.
Mocking, taunting, begging to be picked up.
Looking out the broken bedroom window at society,
I see a little boy playing with a little girl,
running through the sprinklers.
The clothes innocently come off as they continue to giggle,
run around in the cool water with joy.
The mother of the little girl hurries over,
Picks her up and carries her off in a hectic jumble.
The little boy stands there, confused.
Tears build up,
"Why did she take my friend?"
Disgust fills my mind as I return to my room;
reality.
Society is becoming an infested garden,
allowing the bugs to eat the beautiful, flourishing plants.
The fear of corruption fills their greedy minds as they continue to steal children’s lives,
day by day.
Back to the menacing regrets.
They continue to stare into my shielded eyes.
I attempt to turn away,
yet unwillingly, I cannot.
I stare them in the face,
and drift off into yet another mirage…
The sun setting like a dim fire being drowned in liquid.
Grass swaying,
trees softly singing,
wind comforting.
"Just ten more minutes?"
The boy would ask.
Hesitation…
The neighbors exit their "safe" houses as they force their young adults inside.
"No, come inside right now."
The head falls,
hope dies down,
and the new young adult trudges to the doorstep,
entering the house of no return.
Back to this room,
with these regrets.
Society creeps through the night,
caging the innocence,
the freedom,
caging the fragile minds in hope that they will never bo broken…
Too late.
I take one last glance at the pitiful regrets,
Walk out the front door
and Laugh in society’s face.
I like this a lot, the progression is good and the way you present it is nice, great job.
